Our Greek desk can advise on Greek law related matters by providing you an overview of the relevant Greek legal framework in areas of law such as employment law, property law, wills and probate, company law, data protection and freedom of information law. Where more information or steps are needed, we can liaise on your behalf with the relevant Greek authorities, organisations, individuals, lawyers or notaries in Greece.

As some actions and stages can only take place in Greece, in such cases our role will be limited to:

  • Liaise with the competent authorities or professionals in Greece

  • Inform you about their requirements 

  • Introduce or recommend trustworthy lawyers, estate agents and/or notaries

 We can carry out searches (‘Eleghos Titlon’) at the Land Registries confirming that the seller is the legal owner of the property, the description of the property matches the one given, the property is or not free of charges and encumbrances; we can also draft, notarise and legalise by means of an ‘apostille’ a power of attorney if you cannot travel to Greece, organise the signing of the title deed before a notary public in Greece – the transfer of the legal title is always done before a notary, assist you with the registration of your title at the Land Registry –if you are buying- to ensure that the transfer will be binding upon third parties besides the vendor and the buyer.

We can advise you on the legal framework and the stages involved to set up a Greek Company. We can liaise with or introduce you to local lawyers who can assist you by attending various public authorities such as the Chamber of Commerce, Companies’ Registry, Competent Prefecture, Tax Authorities, Offices of Government Gazette and notaries for the purpose of completing the formation of a Greek company. We can draft, notarise and legalise by an ‘apostille’ a power of attorney if you cannot travel to Greece and we can also draft, notarise and legalise minutes of meetings in Greek.
